Local Legends (LCL) is a new way to reward dedication. It is awarded to the athlete who has completed a specific segment more times than anyone else over a rolling 90 day period regardless of their overall pace or speed. A ‘Laurel’ crown icon will appear next to any segments you have achieved LCL status on in your activity page and segment details. Only activities visible to ‘Everyone’ will count towards this feature, and the top spot can be claimed by any Strava athlete, regardless of whether they are a paid subscriber.
LCL is currently available for selected run, ride, walk, hike and alpine/backcountry/nordic ski segments. It will not be available on Zwift segments at this time. You can opt out of Local Legends competition at any time from the segment details page, by selecting the ellipsis icon in the upper right hand corner and choosing Leave Local Legends. You can also find the option to opt out of all local legends achievements from your privacy settings page.
Local Legends are special mini-boss enemies first introduced in Fontaine and now found in Liyue, Natlan and Nod-Krai. Defeating them grants significant amounts of Mora, experience and, in some cases, Character and Weapon Enhancement Materials over their normal variants. Additionally, if you have completed the relevant World Quest, defeating them unlocks an additional achievement. They can be accessed by using Nightsoul Totems, and are usually fought at nighttime.
