A community hero is an individual who shows kindness or performs a selfless act to uplift their local neighborhood, town, city, or region. These individuals may be first responders who volunteer to support the community during disasters, teachers who tirelessly work in their classrooms, or a local shop owner who works to help those less fortunate. In addition to these individuals, many heroes are known for implementing creative solutions that address community needs. For example, one hero created a life skills woodworking workshop to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to learn and build a unique, functional piece of furniture.
Moreover, heroes often serve as a source of inspiration for others. This is particularly true in times of adversity, when they can give people hope that they will overcome the challenge they are facing. For example, Malala Yousafzai became a hero to many around the world when she courageously stood up for the right to education for girls in Pakistan and was targeted by the Taliban for her efforts.
Whether an everyday hero in your neighborhood or an international activist, heroes inspire us to make a difference. And we want to celebrate the great work they are doing. That’s why we’ve launched the Community Hero program, a complimentary resource hub available exclusively to Dewlyn nonprofit clients. Designed to help them continue their work even after their personalized services and meetings with Cheryl Smith have ended, this exclusive toolkit provides helpful templates and resources to grow their nonprofit journey.
